Time is the enemy when someone has a health emergency that stops blood flow to their organs. Immediately starting CPR - cardiopulmonary resucitation - can literally save a life.

The Cedar Rapids Metro Rotary Council voted to revitalize The Shakespeare Garden at Ellis Park. You have an opportunity to purchase an engraved brick.

 

Many members are taking advantage of this opportunity to earn a Paul Harris Fellow for the first time (or multiple PHFs). A PHF signifies donating $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation, which funds projects around the world.

With the holidays coming up, giving is top of mind. But as a Rotarian, you know we give year-round! Our Little Free Food Pantry in Marion is one of our long-running projects. It’s three little shelves seem simple enough, but what we and other donors put inside means someone in our community isn’t going hungry for the night.

 

 

Each year, Rotary International highlights November as Rotary Foundation Month to emphasize the importance of and need for Rotarian support of The Rotary Foundation.

As I prepare for the start of my senior year this Wednesday, I am reminded of doing the same only a year ago in Spain.

Members of our Rotary club rode RAGBRAI, which doubled as a club fundraiser. 

The annual Rotary International Convention was held in Melbourne, Australia from May 27-31, 2023.

John Schultz rode 308 miles in 7 days over 7 mountains with 26,890 total feet in climb. 

Linn County Rotary's tree planting efforts were recently featured in the Indian Creek Nature Center’s 2022 Annual Report.

On March 8, members of our group delivered furniture for Central Furniture Rescue--an organization that gives furniture to those in need in Cedar Rapids.

Our March 22nd meeting was held on-site at House of Hope. Group members were given a brief overview of House of Hope's services and then given a tour of their facilities.

I don’t normally watch Monday Night Football, but I happened to be watching this week when a tragedy unfolded on the field in Cincinnati. 

RAGBRAI, Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, is more than just a bike ride, it is an epic eight-day rolling festival of bicycles, music, food, camaraderie, and community. It is the oldest (50 YEARS!), largest, and longest multi-day bicycle touring event in the world. For the second year, Linn County Rotary Club is sponsoring the Rotary RAGBRAI team! 

As we approach the halfway point of the Rotary year, we have some ground to make up in the next six months in order to reach our goals.

Rotarian Tedde Orton, formerly Jones, just got married!

Our Club has "adopted" two families this year through the Marion Holiday Giving Project, each a single parent with 4 kids.

The Catherine McAuley Center will soon welcome to Iowa 250 refugees from Afghanistan who have no coats, hats, or gloves to face the winter cold.
