Join us for free CPR training in the Corridor community! All club members are encouraged to attend.

The dates have been set for the 2023 Community CPR Training classes in Mount Vernon and Marion. The free classes are a joint project of Linn County Rotary and community partners.

Mount Vernon: the class will be held on Saturday, January 28, from 9:00-12:00, in the Thomas Commons building on the campus of Cornell College. Trainers will include certified CPR trainers from the Lisbon-Mt Vernon Ambulance Service. An optional Stop The Bleed class (depending on signup interest) will be offered in the afternoon.
Location: Thomas Commons | Cornell College | 810 Commons Cir | Mt Vernon, IA 52314

Marion: this class will be held on Saturday, February 18, 9:00-12:00, in the training room at the new Marion Fire Station. Trainers will include certified CPR trainers from the Marion Fire Department.
Location: Marion Fire Station | 100 Irish Drive | Marion, IA 52302

Each class can accommodate a maximum of 40 students. Those who need it can qualify for the Heart Saver certification from the American Heart Association after taking the class.

Trainers from both LMVAS and MFD have emphasized the importance of having community members trained in proper CPR technique. Time is critical: When a bystander(s) can start CPR a few minutes before trained paramedics arrive on an emergency scene, it greatly improves the odds of a positive outcome.

In addition to our LMVAS, MFD, and Cornell College partners, Hills Bank provides drinks and snacks to participants.

If it’s been a while since you’ve had CPR training (or never?), Linn County Rotary members should consider signing up for one of these classes when enrollment begins in December. Not only will you get trained in CPR, but you can also help at the sign in table on the day of training.
