Dozens of children received free bike helmets at the Safety Fair that kicked off Sauerkraut Days in Lisbon. Members of our Rotary club helped fit the correct helmet size for kids of all ages.

Club members, Mariah and Katie, attended the Special Interest Fair at Cornell College in Mt Vernon at the beginning of September. The goal was to recruit students to relaunch a Rotaract Club post-pandemic. There was lots of interest and we are looking forward to the next steps!

At our first meeting in September, we heard from Tish Young, COO of Chains Interrupted.
Human trafficking is the fastest growing organized criminal industry in the world. Chains Interrupted is a group of people whose hearts have been broken by the evil of human trafficking. They focus on prevention and have specific programs to educate organizations and the community at large.

At our second meeting in September, members from our club joined at the Catherine McAuley Center to put together Emerging Literacy curriculum binders. It definitely tested our cutting and laminating skills! We will also toured the facility and learned more about CMC programs.

Five international students from Cornell College joined us and Friends Group of Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area to plant 9 trees. The project was part of a grant from the Rotary International Foundation to replace 22 of the hundreds of trees lost in the 2020 derecho.
