We are an active club! Read more about some of our recent events and service projects.
Speaker: John Wasta

At our club meeting on March 9th, we had the chance to hear from District Foundation Committee Chair, John Wasta. He went through all the ins-and-outs of the Rotary Foundation!

He encouraged us to know and be a part of the great things Rotary can accomplish through local giving to the Foundation.  Those funds, through investment and stewardship, expand for three years before being used to fund both local and international projects.  Projects include everything from community clean-up and service programs to international health initiatives.

Hosting Our Outbound RYE Student

On April 26th, one of our members hosted our sponsored outbound Rotary Youth Exchange student, Rebecca Conrad, at her home to simulate the “first night” away. They went on a nice walk and ate a homemade matar paneer dinner. Rebecca will study in Dénai, Spain in September 2022.

Katie: What are you most looking forward to?
Rebecca: In my year abroad, I most look forward to not just living in a different country, but in a different perspective. I want to push myself to try new things so I can become a better global citizen. I want to open my horizons to more than what I am used to, and I am so excited to be pushing myself out of my comfort zone to experience life in a different culture.

Pizza for Ambulance Volunteers

Our club provided pizza for 20 volunteers of the Lisbon-Mt Vernon Ambulance Service during their March training session. It was a “thank you” to them for helping with the January CPR training at Cornell College, as well as for all of their front-line work throughout the year. Ambulance calls have surged during the pandemic.
